Congratulations! Mount Carmel Gardens, Inc. has been selected to receive the 2009 C. Colburn Hardy Older Advocate Award, to be presented on April 22, 2010 in Sarasota, Florida.The Award recognizes volunteer leadership in programs for older Americans, with an emphasis on statewide advocacy for older persons. The award is given annually to a year round Florida resident who has consistently made significant contributions to policies or programs and services for older Americans in the State of Florida.

Presented to Linda Rubens, Honorary Co-Chairman of the Business Advisory Council "in recognition of outstanding service and commitment to Republican Ideals and in particular for assistance and leadership in promoting a pro-business agenda including tax reform and fiscal responsiblity." The certificate was signed by Congressman Tom DeLay, Majority Leader.

City Council Resolution 2009-269-A commends Winn Dixie Store #107 and the Board of Mount Carmel Gardens for "creative thinking and cooperative efforts to ensure the nutritional needs of the residents of Mount Carmel Gardens are met and a great spirit of community is fostered." The Resolution also "commends the volunteers of Mount Carmel Gardens for their willingness to pitch in and serve their fellow residents in making the new meal plan a workable reality."
